Monique Toohey - Managing Director, Principal Psychologist & Keynote Speaker

Monique founded Nasihah Consulting Group – Northern Psychology Clinic in 2005. She has delivered Psychological services to clients across the lifespan for the past 23 years.

Monique is fluent in the use of the following therapies with clients from culturally and faith diverse backgrounds: Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, Strength-based therapy, Schema therapy, Interpersonal Therapy and Boundaries therapy.

Over the last two decades she has managed countless types of therapy and psycho-education programs for adolescents, parents and adults. She has delivered hundreds of presentations at conferences and seminars in the areas of mental health awareness, family violence & respectful relationships, Intercultural awareness & Cultural Intelligence (CQ). 

She is one of Australia’s leading cross-cultural psychologists and is a thought leader, trainer and policy adviser in the area of cultural intelligence to businesses, government departments and not-for-profit organisations.

She was for 6 years the lead Lecturer in the Master of Clinical Counselling course at the Australian Catholic University (ACU Melb) in Multicultural counselling.

She has a special interest in the role of mental health, wellbeing and faith/spirituality and has delivered psychological services, project management and professional consulting services to over 40 Australian Muslim organisations, making her one of the highest profile Muslim Psychologists in Australia. She served on the board in the role of President of the Jewish Christian Muslim Association of Australia (JCMA), which coordinates a range of Interfaith conferences and anti-racism interfaith education initiatives in schools for students and teachers and is Co-founder and board member of the newly established Centre for Muslim Wellbeing (CMW).

She has been seen on ABC TV Hungry Beast, Lateline, featured in The Australian, The Age, The Herald-Sun, ABC & 3AW radio, 2016 Melbourne Writer’s Festival and recently delivered the 2017 Tasmanian Annual Peace Trust Lecture. Monique also delivered the talk ‘Culture eats individuality for breakfast’ at TEDx Docklands (2019).

Monique has a number of published works including her debut book,Without You: Rising above the impact of an abusive relationship (2014).

Tansel Ali - 4x Australian Memory Champion, Celebrity Memory Coach & Keynote Speaker

Tansel Ali is a world leading mind expert most famously known for memorising two Yellow Pages phone books in only 24 days. An international bestselling author of the books, “The Yellow Elephant” and “How To Learn Almost Anything In 48 Hours”, Tansel is an in-demand keynote speaker and celebrity coach helping thousands around the world improve their productivity, confidence, and performance.

As seen on TV, Tansel regularly appears as the resident celebrity coach on shows such as Redesign My Brain With Todd Sampson, Sunrise, The Project, The Morning Show, Today Tonight, ABC Weekend Breakfast, Hungry Beast, Get It Together, a Current Affair, Studio 10, as well as a variety of radio, print and online media.

For close to 20 years now, Tansel has been the go to authority on the topic of memory, brain training and making the most out of the mind. An international memory athlete, Tansel is a 4-time winner of the Australian Memory Championships and has represented Australia at the World Memory Championships in Malaysia and London, as well as national competitions in Japan breaking several memory records for Australia along the journey, which include remembering a remarkable 41 names and faces in just 5 minutes.

Tansel founded and ran the world’s first School Mind Games event where through Tansel’s training students read a 200-page book in 10 minutes, mapped out all its contents on a wall, presented the whole book back in full detail, and then memorised an 11-minute TEDx presentation word-for-word - all in the space of a few hours. This event proved more than ever that any student, no matter what level, can significantly enhance their learning with a few simple learned techniques.

Diagnosed with Crohn’s Disease at the age of 19, Tansel was told he would’ve died if not for last minute surgery. He is now a Celebrity Ambassador for Crohn’s and Colitis Australia helping those with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) to lead a happier and more fulfilling life.

Tansel has also been an award-winning AFL Multicultural Community Ambassador for the Richmond Football Club championing cultural diversity in Australia. Tansel’s recent projects include the creation of a Chinese Mandarin language learning framework with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Melbourne University, organising the Australian Memory Championships, The Where Neuron's Connect Conference, and is the current licensee and organiser of TEDxDocklands in Melbourne.

Tansel collaborates in Mental Health providing mind training for anxiety and depression victims and teaming up with mental health advocates such as Nick Bracks and Stayfit Australia to spread further knowledge, skills and resources that transform lives for the better.

Tansel holds Masters Degrees in Information Technology and Business (MISM/MBA) from the Australian Graduate School of Entrepreneurship at Swinburne University and resides in Melbourne, Australia.

Jayidah is our Clinic Manager and will be your first point of contact when getting in touch with our team at Nasihah Consulting, so say Hi!

With a background in Project, Resource and Event Management, Jayidah balances and coordinates all of the work we do here at Nasihah. Wether it is booking in client appointments or coordinating the team in their day to day work, Jayidah is always up for the challenge.

After the last Project Jayidah worked on where she co-ordinated the conversion and integration of an all paper employee management system, as well all the technical training records for over 1,500 employee’s within the Electrical Safety Industry. She decided to make a career change and work in mental health, where her skill for management could make positively impactful changes for those that she works with and, aims to assist in her day to day work.

Jayidah’s past experience includes working to fundraise for the SIDS For Kids Foundation where she co-ordinated multiple events that raised upwards of $10,000 to aid research into Sudden Infant Death Syndrome.

Areeba Sadiq, Provisional Psychologist, iSHINE program trainer

 Areeba Sadiq is an AHPRA registered Provisional Psychologist and a 2021 graduate with a Master's degree in Psychology from Monash University. She has completed her Bachelors in Applied Science (Psychology) in 2018 and her Honours in Psychological Sciences in 2019.

Areeba facilitates group programs for a range of young adolescents. She has also volunteered with Headspace as part of the Youth Advocacy Group since 2019 and has a passion for working with young people in the community. Areeba works as a Youth program co-ordinator and facilitates a plethora of workshops in relation to issues emerging with the youth in an Islamic context. She is fluent in English, Hindi and Urdu.

Areeba works with young people and children as well as adults on issues around anxiety, stress, depression, gender and sexual orientation/education, PTSD, personal goals, career development and pathways, self-esteem and confidence, improving general well-being, work-related stressors as well as relationships.

She has completed training in Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), Mindfulness-based therapy, Mentoring Young Australians (RAISE) and Sleep Psychology. She has a strong interest in Cognitive Assessments, Court Reports, Solution Focused Therapy, Career Counselling, CBT and REBT. She works with adults, young adults and children in individual and group settings. She is also undertaking training to develop competency in these areas under supervision.
